Girona is one of the largest cities found within the autonomous Spanish region of Catalonia. It is located approximately one hour and thirty minutes north of Barcelona and thirty minutes to the south of the French border. Girona is associated with a rich history that reaches as far back as the Bronze Age when it was first inhabited by native Iberian peoples. Its population of 97,500 inhabitants tends to increase during the height of the summer tourist season thanks to temperatures that are slightly more refreshing than those associated with cities found within the southern Spanish provinces. As it is relatively close to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, Girona is also quite popular with those who have been hoping to enjoy a bit of sun. The Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch is located at Girona Train Station and is thus easily accessible.
